If you've hired a wedding planner to help with your big day, CONGRATS! You've just made one of the best decisions you can make for this process. Wedding planners take on the brunt of the work (and stress) for couples so they can enjoy the planning process and time as an engaged couple. Depending on what level of planning you've opted for, your planner can cover everything from vendor quotes to ceremony/reception design.
We're there for it all - from the first venue walkthrough to the last dance at the end of the night. Leading up to your wedding day, planners handle all of the details and the big picture items, but what about on the actual day? There are so many moving parts that brides usually don't realize until it's actually happening - and we're there to take care of it! Here is what wedding planners take care of on the big day:
- Leading Wedding Rehearsals
This one is a given, but just in case you had any doubts: wedding planners take care of leading your rehearsal and making sure everyone knows their place in the lineup. Usually, the rehearsal takes place the day before your wedding, right before your rehearsal dinner.
- Pinning Boutonnières & Corsages
Before your ceremony lineup, we come around to pin your groomsmen and pass out corsages to family members. In the off chance that we miss someone, most photographers know how to pin boutonnières as well.

- Ensuring Vendors Are Fed
When planning with your caterer, we help determine how many vendor meals you'll need to include in your count. On the day of, we take care of letting vendors know where and when they can eat on site.
- Grabbing Parents For Highlighted Events
Events like cake cutting or bouquet toss are important to parents, so we always make sure they're around to witness it. We also make sure photographers are present, so every event is captured through the lens and through the eyes of your loved ones.
- Lighting Candles
If you have candles at your ceremony, we'll take care of lighting all of them right before guests start arriving. Then before guests are released for cocktail hour, we go around and light all candles at tables, making sure all of your decor is looking its best for that first impression impact.

- Flipping Florals and Decor From Ceremony to Reception
To maximize your budget, we always recommend incorporating floral arrangements or decor that can be repurposed at your reception. During cocktail hour, we take care of flipping all of your decor elements so you don't even have to think about it.
- Handing Out Vendor Tips
As wedding planners, we are in constant communication with your vendors leading up to and on your special day. We usually take care of handing out vendor tips (unless you or your family wants to), so that you can all enjoy the day and don't have to leave your guests.
- Making Bride & Groom Plates
Most of the time your caterer will be able to make you and your spouse plates, but we are always available to do so if they need their employees for something else. We deliver plates and drinks straight to your table, so you'll be all set to eat when you sit down.

- Bringing Wedding Party Drinks During Cocktail Hour Photos
Everyone is usually filled with nerves and excitement, so there's usually a feeling of relief after the ceremony ends. While your photographer whisks you all away for photos, we'll be grabbing you and your wedding party drinks so you can quench your thirst in between photos.
- Filling Champagne Flutes For Cake Cutting
Before cake cutting, we make sure to fill up your champagne flutes so you have that perfect cheers moment right after you feed each other!

- Cutting Wedding Cake If Needed
Many caterers handle cake cutting, but certain ones charge extra for this service. If you don't want to pay extra, check with your wedding planner to see if they know how to cut cake! We've done it many times for our couples and we won't charge you a fee :)
- Placing Flowers For Decor Arrangements
In addition to your florist's beautiful creations, there might be some extra florals or greenery left over to use. We LOVE reusing the leftover florals to decorate the welcome table, easel, or even place flowers on your cake if needed. We're not professional florists, but we do have an eye for design & experience with florals, so we're happy to help!
- Bustling Your Dress
Whether you have an American bustle, French bustle, or another kind, we guarantee you we can handle it. Before your introductions, we'll take care of bustling you so your bridesmaids don't have to!

- Making Sure Marriage License Is Signed
This usually takes place directly after your ceremony, so your officiant can take it straight to the post office. We make sure that everyone who needs to be present for it is present and that it isn't misplaced.
- Cueing Music For Processional
During your ceremony processional, we line everyone up and work with the DJ to cue the songs for each party. Usually couples choose three songs total for family, groomsmen, bridesmaids, and finally the bride's dramatic entrance. We cue the DJ for each, so the timing is perfect!
- Lining Wedding Party Up For Ceremony & Introductions
We're sure it's pretty obvious, but we line everyone up for the ceremony right before the processional. If your DJ isn't able to, we can also line your wedding party up for introductions if needed.
- Helping You Take Off & Put Back On Heels
You'd be surprised how difficult strapping up heels can be, especially with freshly manicured nails. We always step in if we see a shoe debacle, but our brides know not to hesitate to ask for help!

- Packing Up Family's Decor At The End Of The Night
When it's all said and done, there is a lot of clean up to do! We take care of packing up your decor items, gifts, cards, and floral arrangements for your family to take home. We'll help load items into their cars, so everyone can leave as soon as possible.
- Packing Your Getaway Bags
If you have transportation arranged, we'll contact your driver day of to confirm they have the correct address and time. Once they arrive, we'll load your getaway bags into the car for you before your grand exit. Even if it's your personal car, we can take care of pulling it around and loading it for you.
