Wedding Guest Do's and Don'ts

While some etiquette mishaps make for funny stories down the road, you don’t want to be the person that’s remembered for doing something foolish at a wedding. Here is a simple guide to follow to keep you from being “that” wedding guest.

Tip #1.

Don’t take pictures of the ceremony. The bride and groom hired a professional photographer for a reason, don’t get in the way by having your phone in all of their pictures because you want to record their ceremony and post it on Snapchat.

Tip #2.

Return your RSVP on time. This makes everyone’s life easier by sending back your RSVP in a timely manner. Bonus points if you send it in early!

Tip #3.

A wedding is one of those events where being late means you’re missing out. Do not be late! The ceremony will not wait for you, and you do not want to take your seat after it has started. Arrive around 30 minutes before the ceremony is set to start.

Tip #4.

Only bring a plus one if the invitation mentions it. The bride and groom are expecting a specific number of people, and they don’t want to be surprised to see your boyfriend of 3 weeks showing up at their wedding uninvited.

Tip #5

Monitor your cocktails! Open bars are so fun, but don’t let your drinks get away from you. By all means, have a great time, but don’t get sloppy. This causes problems for everyone involved, so just avoid that all together by staying within your limits.

Tip #6.

And lastly, don’t wear white. It’s pretty self-explanatory, but still some people show up in a white outfit. Let the bride have her moment! Also follow the dress code if there is one.
