Delicious Alternatives to Wedding Cake

May 03, 2022 in Creative Ideas

Julia Child once said, “A party without cake is just a meeting.”

In some cases, a wedding is like one big, luxurious party. I like to think of it as a once in a lifetime holiday that you can reflect back on for years to come. In any case, cakes help us commemorate special occasions with those we love most. But what about when cake isn’t your dessert of choice? Believe it or not, a lot of people actually don’t like cake - I would say every 2 out of 5 couples communicates a desire for a dessert they’ll actually enjoy on their wedding night.

Even if you do like cake, you might consider including other desserts too for the sake of your guests. Chances are there’s a few people in the crowd who’d prefer a different sweet treat. Check out these popular dessert ideas for your wedding:

Consider sharing a dessert that holds special meaning to you two, or one that reflects the style of your wedding day: upscale, laid back, culturally significant, sentimental, etc. Cannolis are delicious, easy to eat, and make a gorgeous dessert display.

Donuts for Days

Opt for a donut cake in your favorite flavor - aka one huge donut to share! Surround your display with donuts in varying flavors for a fun and creative dessert table.

Why settle for one cake when you can have a few? Handpick different flavors you know your guests will love, so everyone can enjoy the cake of their choice.

Ice Cream Cart

Golden Cow Creamery, Morning Glory Farms

A cold scoop of ice cream works wonders for keeping guests cool, while bringing the heat on the dance floor! Consider offering your guests this sweet treat as a late night surprise snack, guaranteed to keep the party going.

Cookies

In search of a popular dessert that’s easy to eat? You can’t go wrong with cookies! From classic chocolate chip to red velvet, this is the perfect dance floor companion. If you’re looking for something extra fun: include a cookie cake for a fun spin on the wedding cake tradition!

Ice Cream Pops

Customize your dessert experience by incorporating a shared interest you two have. Simple touches can make a huge impact, just like this personalized ice cream freezer! To show their love for Disney, this couple offered guests Mickey Mouse ice cream pops - adorable and delicious.
