Making The Groom Feel Special On Your Wedding Day Too

Typically when it comes to weddings, the bride is the one designing and planning the whole event. Grooms will usually have a say in some things, but majority is usually the bride calling the shots! This can reflect in the actual event as well, even if it is not purposeful or accidental from guests and others focusing on the bride more, and her having a bit more of a spotlight than her new husband. This is so easy to happen, with bridal showers being thrown throughout the engagement season, and with everyone excited to see the bride in her dress and all made up. This blog will cover a couple ways to make the groom feel highlighted, appreciated, and celebrated as well on your wedding day.

One way to help with the groom feeling like it’s his big day too is to have breakfast and/or lunch brought in while him and his friends are getting ready. This is a really nice gesture, and keeps the boys from starving all day!

Another idea is to write him a personal letter. Emotions are running high on your wedding day, and a heartfelt letter could mean the world. You could also get him a personal gift as well. It could be something he’s really been wanting, or could be something referencing a joke that you two have, and give a comedic break to the emotional day.

While most photographers focus on the bride getting ready and into her dress and all of the details, you could hire a second shooter to capture what’s going on in the grooms suite during the morning as well. This can include him putting the finishing touches on his jacket, or just hanging out with the boys before ceremony time.

Why not give the groom his own song to walk down the aisle to? If the bride and bridal party get their own songs, he should too! This adds another personal touch and can make him feel more comfortable walking down the aisle in front of everyone.

You could also plan some kind of fun surprise for him during the reception. We recently had a bride surprise her groom with a stunning dress change and a whole performance to Shania Twain. It was awesome, and the groom (and guests) loved it! A massage in the morning of the wedding day is also a great idea, along with a barber to come onsite, or a song dedication, or a fun dance floor prop, like fatheads. (Fun fact, we’ve seen this too!)
