One of the main factors that play into your wedding design is the venue you choose - your venue provides your backdrop and scenery for the entire day. Everything from your getting ready space to your walk down the aisle to your first dance is framed by the setting.
The colors, textures, and atmosphere of your venue will lend itself to your design whether you want it to or not, so we highly suggest taking this into consideration when making your decision. If you’re in the early phases of planning and are unsure of the direction you’re going in, your safest bet is choosing a versatile venue. Select one with a neutral palette and no set theme, so your celebration isn’t boxed in before you make big design choices.
If you already have a general idea of your preferred design style, choosing a venue to complement that will help narrow your search down. When conducting research, keep in mind that buzzwords like “rustic,” “modern,” or “country” will not necessarily show you allll of the venues in that category. Keep an open mind and try synonymous adjectives for broader search results. PRO TIP: Consult your wedding planner & other vendors you’re already working with to hear about their preferred venues in the area - chances are they’ll know the latest scoop on their inclusions too :)

Nail down a location! This is super important for your search, because there are thousands of venues to choose from, even within a single state. Narrow your search by narrowing your location down, even if that means researching 2-3 of your top preferred cities or towns.

Create a list of values - this should include any characteristics that are important to you in a venue.
For example: will you need a getting ready space on-site?
Are you willing to end the party by 10pm if there’s a noise ordinance?
How do you feel about shelling out extra money if the venue doesn’t provide tables and chairs?
Is it a dealbreaker if the venue requires the use of a specific caterer?
Use these values as a guideline when sorting through your options. Many sites offer filters so you can adjust your search according to cost, style, and other features. From there, venues will list most of their information under the description and inclusions, so you can see if they meet your venue requirements.
